Your to-do list
The essentials to sort out before you fly.
1 of 9 done
Looking for information
You're already doing it: reading up on the working holiday in Australia is the first step.
Check the validity of your passport
It should stay valid for your whole stay. Aim for at least 6 months beyond your planned return date.
Obtain a bank statement
Proof of funds for Australia: About AUD 5,000, plus money for a ticket home. Ask your bank for an English version.
Passport photos
You apply online, so there's no printed photo. You'll upload a scan of your passport's photo page, and Home Affairs may ask you to give biometrics (a photo and fingerprints).

Open a multi-currency account
A Wise or Revolut account lets you hold and spend local currency in Australia without high bank fees while you wait for a local account.
Purchase travel insurance
It must cover medical care, hospital stays and repatriation for the full length of your visa.
Get your eSIM
Set it up before you fly so you have data the moment you land in Australia.
Prepare your CV for the local job market
Optional
Adapt your CV to how employers in Australia expect it: the usual format, length and whether a photo is included. Have an English version ready.
Book your flight
Many programmes ask for a flight booking or proof of funds for a ticket when you apply, so you may need to book before your visa is approved. Pick a flexible or refundable fare in case of delays, and keep the booking handy for border control.
